Demo is live

The demo for The Grappler is live!

I've been working on this game for a few months now. I've drawn inspiration from games like Jump King, and Getting Over it, those kind of rage core games where one mistake could mean loosing a bunch of progress. I wanted to incorporate high mobility into a game like that, since I've noticed a lot of good games have really in depth and satisfying mobility mechanics. Hence The Grappler was born, where you can double jump, dash, and grapple through the levels.

Obviously implementing a lot of useful mobility into a game who's primary goal is to have you fail and fall back to the start introduced some design challenges to make sure the user could still mess up, which took a fair bit of planning. Even now, after having developed and played it for so long, I can breeze through the game in around 5 minutes, but I'd imagine the first run throughs of the game would take a fair bit longer.

I've developed it in Godot, using kind of a "whatever works works" strategy, so the code likely only makes sense to me, but I am looking forwards to expanding the game and it's concepts to create something a bit more full fledged and frustrating.
